The Luxo L1 is a design by Jac Jacobsen based on a modified anglepoise design. Jacobsen designed this variation with a refined spring based auto balancing system. Principle is the tension system of human limbs. Jacobsen called the new design Luxo L-1. Luxo being Latin for ‘I light’. The L-1 swiftly established itself in the market as a productivity enhancer in schools, offices, industrial and in healthcare. This particular lamp originates from that last segment and has been given a Luxo factory made stand with option to suspend whatever is needed.
Vintage condition of this lamp from the mid 70s is very good given the fragility of this lamp with only scuff and discoloration on the lamp hood. Nice detail is the patent designation stamped into the lamp for reference. Furnip has rewired and put in a new footswitch and plug. Room for a true classic?
