'Papa Bear' chair
This Danish Svend Skipper chair is a tremendously recognisable design and testament to the mid century design era. This particular 50s design is a Model 91 'Papa Bear' from the Skipper Møbelfabrik and is fully reupholstered with the Ploeg Salt No. 83, a very comfortable and durable Trevira CS. fabric. Please do appreciate this chair is not to be recognised for Hans Jørgen Wegner's Papa Bear chair. This Svend Skipper chair features an oak base as well as sculpted dark oak "paws" at the end of the arms. The fat sides, high back and big ears not only provide for that coveted silhouette but add to the comfort of this chair. The ergonomics of this chair are fantastic and that is not a given in design furniture.
High back armchair
We had it recently upholstered in a the Ploeg Salt No. 83 to stay as close as possible to the design quality. The color play of the yarns creates a modern, almost graphic structure with De Ploeg Salt upholstery fabric. The optical play of colors is created by using a different color from wire to wire. The construction and use of color emphasise the rhythmic effect. The effect is a fabric with a special structure. That is why this pattern fits in a modern, sleek interior as well as in a rural or classic interior.
The oak base has been re-oiled and is in very good condition.
